In ancient times, there is a farmer named Toba alone in a valley of sloping and fertile. The farmer was working on the rice fields and farm for the purposes of his own life. In addition to farm work, he sometimes went fishing to the river that was not far from his home. Each time he was fishing, he is easy to get fish, because the river is so clearly. Fish the lure him ripe to be eat later.
On one afternoon, after returning from farm he went straight to the river for fishing. However, he has been fishing long enough; he did not even get a fish too. This sort of thing he had never experienced before, because usually the fish in this river is easy for him to be lure. For too long there are no fish that eat the bait from his fishing rod, he became upset and decides to quit fishing. However, when he was about to pull his fishing rod, suddenly his hook struck by the fish that pulled the fishing rod away to the middle river. His heart was already annoyed that turned into joy, because he knew that the fish grabbed the pole it is a big fish. After a while he let the fish pulled the pole back and forth, then the rod was pull slowly, when the fishing line snapped behold it in a big fish hanging on the end of the rope pole. Quickly he pull the fish to the land so it not to lose. Smiling happily, he takes out the hook out of the fish mouth. When he was releasing the hook, the fish looked meaningfully premises. Then, after the fish were place in a safe place, he went into the river to bathe. Feeling very happy because he never got a big fish like that, He smiled as he imagined how good the tastes of the fish meat would when it has baked.When he left the river to return to his home it was already dusk. Arriving at home, he immediately brought a big fish results from his lure into the kitchen. When he was about to light a fire for grilling fish, it turns out firewood in her home kitchen has run out. He immediately came out to take firewood from under the gutter of his house. Then, carrying a few pieces of firewood she climbed back into the house and went straight to the kitchen.
By the time he arrived in the kitchen, she was surprised at all because the big fish that is not there anymore. However, in place of fish that had seemed spread out a few pieces of gold. Because of shock and surprise experienced a strange situation, he left the kitchen and go into the room.
When he opened the room, her body suddenly froze because in the room stood a woman with long hair loose. The woman was combing her hair as she stood facing the mirror hanging on the bedroom wall. A moment later, she suddenly turned around and looked at the man that stood bewildered at the mouth of the bedroom door. The man became very fascinated by that woman's face standing in front of her extraordinary beauty. He had never seen a woman so beautiful that even before he had wandered away to different countries.
Because it was night, she asked for the lights in turn. After he turned on the light, the girl invited him to accompany her to the kitchen because she wanted to cook rice for them. While waiting for the rice to cook, told by her that she is the incarnation of the great fish that had gained him when fishing in a river. Later on also explain that some gold coins that are located in the kitchen that is incarnate scales. After several weeks of beautiful women that live in the same house with him, one day he applied for the woman to be his wife. The woman states willing to accept his proposal on condition that he must swear that the rest of his life he will never bring up the origins of his wife who becomes the fish. After he had sworn so, then marry them.
A year later, they were blessed with a son they named Samosir. The boy was treating very spoiled by his mother so the resulting child is less good tempered and lazy. Once big enough, the boy told his mother to deliver rice every day for his father who worked in the fields. However, he often refused to work on that task so that her mother forced to deliver rice to the fields.
One day, the boy told his mother again to deliver rice to field for his father. At first, he refused. However, because of continued forced his mother, he went angrily to deliver the rice. In the middle of the road, mostly rice and side dishes he ate. Arriving at the farm, the rest was only a little rice he gave to his father. When received, the father was feeling very hungry because the rice was deliver is late. By because it is, then the father became very angry when he saw the rice given to him were the remnants. His anger grew when her son confessed that he who takes up most of the rice. Patience of the father is lost and he beat his son, saying "Son of insolent. Do not know reciprocation. You are really the offspring of women who come from the fish! ".
Weeping, the boy ran home to meet his mother at home. To his mother he was complaining about his father that he was been beaten. All the words that are pronounced slur his father told him he was too. Listening to his son, the mother was so sad, especially because her husband already violate his oath with the words slur he spoke to the boy. The mother told her to immediately go up the hill that is located not so far from their house and climb the highest tree located at the top of the hill. Without asking again, the child's immediately take his mother orders. He ran toward the hill and then climbs it.
When it appears by the mother her son had nearly reached the top of the tree on the hill, he ran towards the river is not so far away from their homes. When he arrived on the banks of the river at lightning accompanied the booming thunder. A moment later, he jumped into the river and suddenly turned into a big fish. At the same time, the river was a big flood and fell too heavy downpours. Sometime later, the river water is already overflowing everywhere and flooded valley where the river flows. Mr. Toba cannot save himself, and he drowned by water. Over time, a pool of water was more widespread and turned into a huge lake that later say as Lake Toba. Being a small island in the middle is named Samosir Island in accordance with which the name of his mother's child in order to take cover.

Lake Toba is a volcanic lake with a length of 100 kilometers and 30 kilometers wide, located in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. This lake is the largest lake in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. In the middle of this lake there is a volcanic island called Pulau Samosir.
